AT&T 3G Network in Western Kentucky

I have been doing a bit of research on the future of the AT&T Cellular Network and their plans for 3G upgrades in western Kentucky. What I found has surprised me a bit. According to Howard Forums most of the work to upgrade a large portion of western Kentucky to 3G is complete. The hangup goes back to the days of Cingular. Here is what is posted on one of the forums:The Moon with its neighbor Jupiter. Taken with the Hipstamatic iPhone App. Robo Glitter lens and Kodot Verichrome film.

… “When Cingular took over in west KY, the old ATT Suncom towers were divested to All Tell, and that robbed our region the spectrum necessary to be up and ready for 3G as quickly…. ATT reps have stated that they are pretty much up and ready to go technologically for 3G here, but the red tape involved with your government and their lack of approval is holding up the process….”

Apparently there has been a bit of a break in at least some of the government red tape since the Paducah and McCracken County area is now experiencing 3G speeds on the AT&T network. There are rumored plans for expansion in the surrounding Kentucky counties of Ballard, Graves, Livingston, Marshall, and Massac County in Illinois with more expansion planned over the next year and a half.

Maybe its time we started needling our political figures to quit worrying about who is getting elected next and do something useful for their constituents.
