My name is John McMillen and I am the Chief Information Officer for Graves County Schools in Mayfield, Kentucky. It is my charge to build and maintain a state-of-the-art technological environment to support a world class education for our students and those who shape and support their education.

I also host of Music From the Front Porch on 91.3 WKMS in Murray, KY. The show airs every Saturday morning from 10 AM until 1 PM but I am only able to do every other weekend... so check in and listen to the stream at the above link.

Down Goes Frazier!

It’s an Apple device morning here at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville.

I am currently listening to a very quick overview of Lion Server and the built in Profile Manager. This is actually iPhone Configuration Utility built on a web server which allows you to push settings to a device over the network… iOs or Mac. If you are neck deep in iOs devices, you really need to look into this tool as it will make your life much easier. This tool is a step shy of purchasing a third-party mobile device management solution.

I have Profile Manager stood up in my district but I have yet to enroll any devices so it is good to see actual data within this tool. Not only can you push settings and install apps with this tool but it can also be used for invetory.
