What Was I Waiting For? Air Mouse Pro
I have seen this app in the iPhone app store a hundred times. I have seen review after review that heralds its ability. So why did I keep putting off buying it? I don’t know but I now wish I had purchased it a long, long time ago.
I bought the Air Mouse Pro app today and have been using it in place of my optical mouse which has been causing me grief of late. I was instantly hooked with the ease of use of the Air Mouse and then as I kept digging deeper and deeper into its capabilities I starting kicking myself for not having listened to the scores of people speaking to its incredible use. Chalk up another use for my iPhone!
The steps to setup are really easy. You can either download the free version of the Air Mouse app for your phone or buy the $1.99 version Air Mouse Pro, which I did. Install the app on your phone. Then you will need to download and install the desktop component from their site that matches your OS (Mac or PC). The desktop component is actually called Air Mouse Server and inside are all of the basic settings along with an optional password field which I recommend you to use to keep other folks with the app from interfering with your computer. It was just simply a breeze for initial setup.
The app itself is more than just a remote mouse. You can also use your iPhone keyboard to type on your desktop as well. There are media keys that you can control volume with and even eject your media. There are also web keys, an application switcher/launcher, a function keyboard that gives you access to your f-keys, a numeric pad, and yes you can even right-click! There are hot keys already available to run programs or perform keyboard shortcuts or you can set up your own.
This is just an incredible app that I wish I had added to my toolbox a long time ago! Here is additional information from their website.
